El Remanso began as a family dream: a place to share what we love most and welcome travelers as if they were friends. Our Story
El Remanso began as a family dream that stayed with us for many years. When our children were young, we spent our summers traveling the Carretera Austral, and we would often talk about what it might be like to live in a corner of southern Chile. We dreamed of having a place of our own where we could welcome people, share what we love most, and where each of us could bring our own talents and personalities to life through a project we were truly passionate about. Over time, that dream took shape and became El Remanso: what was once only a wish is now a reality.

Patagonia creates something very special — a sense of fullness that's hard to put into words. On every trip south we enjoyed ourselves so much that we'd say we wished those vacations could last forever. Maybe it's the unhurried pace, the silence, or the powerful presence of nature, but simply being there is enough to make stress, rushing, and worries disappear. As the Patagonian saying goes: "He who hurries, loses time." This place truly invites you to savor every moment and let everyday life turn into joy. We felt we couldn't keep this gift to ourselves — we had to share it with others.
That's how we decided to open the doors of what we first thought of simply as our family home. We never conceived of it as just a hotel, but as a home that welcomes new friends. Patagonia always amazes us, but for us the best view isn't just its waterfalls, forests, or endless skies — it's the expression on the faces of those who discover them for the first time. Watching them breathe in the pure air of this paradise, marvel at it, and let themselves be wrapped in the calm of this place is a privilege we treasure.

Today, El Remanso is our life project, and in the future it will also be our permanent home: the place where we want to live and dedicate all our time to sharing hospitality and nature with those who visit us. We do this in the hope that our guests will experience here what we have always felt in Puelo: calm, beauty, friendship, connection, and the deep joy of simplicity. We think of it as an open home, because at home you feel relaxed and free, and that's exactly what we want to share. We believe that Chilean Patagonia brings out the best in each of us, and that's why we want to share it. Our location couldn't be more special: we're set in a remote, still largely unexplored corner of Chilean Patagonia, shown here in its purest, most natural state. The Lodge is nestled in the middle of a native forest, with stunning views over the Totoral River, a tributary of the Puelo River. Being remote here isn't a drawback — it's part of the experience. We're far from noise and mass tourism, yet there are still trails to explore the valley, paths to discover, ways to connect with local life, and the feeling of being part of a landscape that remains untouched.
